IOWA GHOST TOWNS
COUNTY OF EMMET
TOWN OF RALEIGH
Raleigh is located in Twelve Mile Township and was surveyed for Harry L. and
Anna Jenkins by Surveyor J.E.Egan. The plat being filed in 1899. It was
subdivided into 166 lots
The North and South Streets were named First, Main, Third, Fourth and Fifth.
The East and West streets being named First Avenue, Second Avenue, Broadway and
Third Avenue.
With one or two businesses, a post office and a school the town never grew to
what the developers expected it would.
