Who was the first white child born in what is now called Ida Grove.
Established in 1851
Listed below are names and descriptions of Ida County towns
and villages, many have long ago disappeared,
Some became a part of other towns, that are still in existance
today.
The list below was taken from the Annuls of Iowa Vols. XVII & XVIII.

CLARENDON. Listed in the U. S. Postal Guide of 1885 as a post office in Ida
County, but not found on the maps of that period.
CORNELIA. A post office in the 1880's in central part of Battle Township.
DRESSER. Listed in the >U. S. Postal Guide of 1897 as a post office in Ida
County, but not found on the maps of that period.
IDA. The pioneer name of the present city of Ida Grove. The post office was Ida from
1859 to 1878.
SILVER CREEK. In section 18, Silver Creek Township. Post office, 1875.
WILLOW DALE. The pioneer name of the present town of Battle Creek. Willow Dale was
the post office from 1871 to 1875
