Listed below are names and descriptions of Dickinson County towns
and villages, many have long ago disappeared,
Some became a part of other towns, that are still in existance
today.
The list below was taken from the Annuls of Iowa Vols. XVII & XVIII.

AUSTIN. A post office from 1872 to 1882, located south of Silver Lake, and later
near the east shore. On the coming of the railroad in 1882 the post office was removed
to Lake Park and the name changed to that of the town.
HAGERTY. In the northern part of Westport Township. Post office, 1893-1903.
LAKEVILLE. A hamlet, business center and post office in the southwestern part of
Lakeville Township. The hamlet was in existence from about 1870 to 1890.
MILFORD. A town in the north central part of section 18, Milford Township. Post office
established in 1869. On the coming of the nearby railroad in 1882 the town of North
Milford (the name later changed to Milford) was established three-fourths of a mile
to the northwest, which caused abandonment of the original town.
MINNIE. Name of the post office from 1885 to 1893 at the present town of Orleans.
WALLACE. In the southern part of Westport Township. Post office, 1900-1903.
