of General Zachary Taylor in the Mexican War
Established in 1851


Listed below are names and descriptions of Bueana Vista County towns and villages, many have long ago disappeared,
Some became a part of other towns, that are still in existance today.
The list below was taken from the Annuls of Iowa Vols. XVII & XVIII.

Blaine. In section 26, Maple Valley Township. Post office, 1877-1900

Crozier. In western part of secion 14, Grant Township, Post office, 1881-1900

Elkton. In western part of Elk Township. Post office, 1893-1900.

Hires Grove. In the northwest corner of Grant Township. Post office, 1875.

Mayview. In northeastern part of Poland Township. Post office, 1881.

Menoti. In section 34, Lee Township. Post office, 1871-85.

Northam. Listed in U.S. Postal Guide of 1900 as a post office in Buena Vista county, but not found on maps.

Orsland. Listed in U.S. Postal Guide of 1900 as a post office in Buena Vista County, but not found on maps.

Peach. On southwesterm part of section 26, Grant Township. Post office, 1881-97.

Plum. Listed in U.S. Postal Guide of 1897 as a post office in Buena Vista county, but not found on maps.

Racine. In secion 34, Lincoln Township. Post office, 1881-1900.

Sayre. Listed in U.S. Postal Guide of 1893 as a post office in Buena Vista County, but not found on maps.

West Scott. On the west line of Scott Township. Post office, 1877-97.
